School Store

Contact: Jenni Johnson
The school store, it is an opportunity for third-fifth graders to shop for novelty school supplies (pencils, erasers, sharpeners, highlighters, etc…) during morning recess. Some of the second-grade teachers will allow their students to shop as well, but it is at the teacher’s discretion. Mrs. Cupp, third-grade teacher, orders the school supplies and coordinates the school store. Most items range in price from .10 to $2.00.

Parent Volunteering for The School Store
Parent volunteers arrive at 9:45 to set up and organize merchandise. Children usually start coming in around 10:00 a.m and are allowed to shop until the end of morning recess. The job of the parent volunteer is to assist the children with their purchases/math. Often the younger children don’t know how much money they have to spend and some children need a reminder to complete their shopping. The fifth grade has six volunteers (two from each class) that come to help as well. Their job is to tally the purchases for the kids, that are shopping. Parent volunteers handle the money (and often double check the math).
School store usually happens twice a month, on a Thursday, beginning at 9:45 and cleaning up around 10:20. If you would like to volunteer please email amvetpto@gmail.com . Three or four parent volunteers are usually sufficient, but the more the merrier.
